Organizational culture is a fascinating area of research. Generally, there are two approaches to the study of organizational cultures (organizations prescribe a culture or cultures are more emergent). The difference is that sometimes when you walk into an organization they will have large signs with their “corporate values” and may start training their new employees about various “organizational values” that they espouse. The other approach says that organizational culture is more shared and emergent, it’s how employees interact not just in a formal training, but around the ‘water cooler’ (or maybe now it’s the Keurig machine..).
