I’m studying for my Criminal Justice class and need an explanation.Rough draft of answer is below, please help revise to make it grammatically accurate and more fluent train of thought. thanks!I have always been intrigued by the history of criminology and criminal justice. Some well-known cases are the what we see today as the preposterous Salem Witch-Trials, to the unsolved case of the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre, the incredible case of Yoshie Shiratori who escaped japanese prison four times,to the many 1st degree murder convicts that were sent to the high-security Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia, which I have always had a deep interest in. Growing up in the deep south I see many local cases of blatant racism against the black population when it comes to justice, and compared to what i see in the northeastern US, many who work in the justice system are much less “progressive”. I also know cases of police extortion in the more rural regions of Georgia, in which even minor misdemeanors could result in police officers extorting cash from citizens. However this is definitely not representing of every single person working in the justice system here, I personally know a few police officers and lawyers who are rigorously working to improve the system and help citizens along with catching the real criminals, and I greatly admire their persistence and vision to improve the criminal justice system there.
